MS Duals Empty
PostSubject: MS Duals   MS Duals Icon_minitimeTue 21 Apr - 14:22

I heard that Team Palmetto did pretty good at the MS Duals in Iowa this past weekend - something like 10 All-Americans and they won their pool on the last day. I haven't seen any details yet, but it's encouraging to hear that our guys can hang with the best in the country.

Team Palmetto in Iowa.

Travel was a bear! But we got there and ready to wrestle. In coaches meeting Iowa representatives say this is the toughest this tournament has ever been. More High School Medalist and qualifiers than ever. More MS State Champions than ever. We were in for some battles. Which….that is why we go there!

Pennsylvania won the tournament. Very Impressive.

We get our pool draw. Boy what a tough draw. #1 in our pool was ILLINIOS. #2 was Montana that finished higher than our last year’s team. Team Palmetto and then what was suppose low finishing team from last year OR a team that is new. Well, we drew first year to enter team... a TOUGH NEBRASKA team. We lost to Illinois but scored points and did not get blanked. Then we were right there with Nebraska but lost. Then beat Montana pretty convincely.

After Pool we were put in a 32 team bracket. We drew North Dakota All Star team. We lost Dillon Holliday to ankle injury….and lost by 6(I think). This would still put us in the Bronze(finishing 17 ? 14) if we win our next match against South Dakota(Pierre). This is the match we fell apart. We were very capable of winning. Should have won! But lost close….again without Holliday. So this puts us in Copper bracket on Sunday. Best finish would be 25th. If we win 3 on Sunday. We came in on Sunday and destroyed everyone and won the copper bracket..

NC gets good draw and finishes much higher. And remember we beat NC head to head! We could be dinged on overall finish but in such a tough tournament we certainly had some great things happen.

* Every kid that went won at least on match.
* We went 4-4 on the weekend
* Starters go 90-70 for the weekend
* 10 kids make All American honors finishing 5-3 or higher
* Did not get shut out
* Half our kids had a winning record
* 13 kids go 500 or better

All our kids performed at a high level. There are several kids I could mention. But I have to first talk about Jarelle Hannah from Chesterfield. Finished 7-1 on the weekend. Only losing to a South Dakota High School Placer. Almost had the match won in regulation on a takedown but ref called toes out of bounds. Awesome match with High School State Placer.

Thanks to everyone that made this happen. SC has some great families! Great Kids! We are really turning heads on the national level!

See everyone this Saturday in Ohio! Good luck to all and safe travels!
